Wedding day

For Sunday Scribblings on Weddings

The blushing bride

Hoped that no one would come close enough

To notice the dark rouge

Or the smile painted on her face

So that even while grimacing

In the too tight high-heeled shoes

Weighed down by a garland

Described by all who saw it

As an adornment fit for a queen

She hung onto the groom

Pressing her fingers down

On his hands

To convey a little

Of the pain she felt

Why should he not have anything

But a garland that was exactly the right size

And no one expected him

To grin like a banshee

If he would share her entire life from now

He could atleast feel a bit of her pain today

Weddings were a pain

She thought

Atleast she looked good through it all;

The groom wondered and glowed

Thinking his shy bride

Had finally clasped his hands

Tugging at them

Maybe she wanted a kiss or two;

Distracted he looked up

And wondered how the match he was missing

Was progressing;

Weddings were a pain he thought

Atleast there was some great food coming up
